LANHEE CHEN RAISES $1.5 MILLION, ENTERS 2022 WITH STRONG CASH-ON-HAND POSITION

Mountain View, CA – Lanhee Chen, candidate for California Controller and one of America’s leading fiscal policy experts, raised $1.5 million in the six months between his campaign launch in July 2021 and the end of the year.

“I am grateful for the tremendous amount of support my campaign has earned,” Chen said. “As I travel across this state, our campaign is gathering volunteers and supporters who want transparency into California’s finances and accountability for every dollar our state spends. When elected, I will put California taxpayers first. I won’t be afraid to take on the Sacramento politicians who want free rein over the state’s checkbook.”

Chen ended 2021 with $1,335,984 cash on hand, banking 90 percent of funds raised thus far. “This campaign understands the importance of operating efficiently and leanly because Lanhee is as careful with our donors’ contributions as he will be with California taxpayer’s dollars,” stated Matt Ciepielowski, Chen for Controller campaign manager.

Chen campaign fundraising 2021 fundraising report highlights:

  • $1.5 million raised
  • 462 unique donors
  • $1,335,984 cash on hand
  • $1,150,300 primary election funds
  • $349,700 general election funds

Lanhee Chen is the Director of Domestic Policy Studies and a Lecturer in Public Policy at Stanford University, and is a fellow (on leave) from the Hoover Institution. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors at El Camino Health and owns his own small business.

Chen is a leading policy figure whose ideas have appeared in major American newspapers and been shared on leading television networks in the US and around the world. He has helped leaders in California and across America develop solutions to address some of the country’s most pressing fiscal problems—like improving the health care system, saving Social Security, and growing our economy.

After earning four degrees from Harvard, including a law degree and doctorate in political science, Chen served in both Republican and Democratic presidential administrations. He has been an adviser to four Republican presidential campaigns and was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as a member of the bipartisan and independent Social Security Advisory Board.
